Today I got on the computer with determination of finding the manual to my new GPS. On my desktop there was an unfamiliar icon. It was for the driver I had or thought I had installed. I clicked on it and on the bottom of a large block with three selections was "Other." I clicked that one. Sure enough there was a way to get the manual PDF. It took quite a while to download, mainly because of my dial up, but maybe 20 minutes later is was there and I started reading a learning a lot about my new GPS. There's about 80 pages to read. I'm on page 10, but already some little things are cleared up about how to do things.
I went down to the high school to check out the tennis courts which were supposed to be open. I let my GPS do all of the planning and off I went. What fun it was to let someone else tell me how to go, where to turn and show me at the same time.
I brought a bag full of tennis balls which I had stored in that bag for over 20 years. I thought for sure those would be duds. They were. I had three unopened cans of balls. I wondered if they would have been affected since they were vacuum packed. I opened one can and it went pshif as I pulled the ring on the top. Were they still good after 20 years even though they made that sound. Yes they were. I tested all of the loose balls by practicing my serve for about an hour. No one else were on the court. There were swimming classes going on and what a beautiful high school and area this was. While practicing my serve, I realized I couldn't lean into the serve because I was throwing the ball too high. So that bit of information came back to me. I wondered what to do about all of the dead, loose tennis balls. I saved a couple of the cleaner ones for my cat to play with and decided when I go down to the dog park I'll give them to the dog owners to throw to their dogs or leave them in the bag and set them there on a bench with a note on them.
After practicing on the courts I thought I'd just stop into this Walmart to see what they had in tennis apparel and visors. I picked up two more skorts. One is a pretty brown pattern and the other skort is all black. They both had pockets on them so that was a plus. I also purchased two pair of thick, soft and low cut tennis socks. Next, I headed down to Big 5 Sporting Goods and got a plastic tennis ball holder you attach to the waistband and you stick a tennis ball into it so you don't have to hold all three balls at a time while serving. I have a couple of outfits with no pockets. Still I couldn't find a visor I liked.
Home I went and as soon as I entered the door I saw I had a message on my machine. It was from Doreen, the lady who I met at the tennis club on Wednesday. Tomorrow morning we will meet at the high school in the morning and play some tennis. Wish me luck.
