IXNAY ON THE SOURDOUGH STARTER

As I opened the sourdough starter packet and read all that had to be done, I remember trying to make a sourdough starter by scratch many years ago.  I thought this packet was an easy way to make sourdough starter, but it wasn't.  In fact, from what I remember when attempting to do it on my own, this packet seemed more difficult.  Now, if anybody out there would invent a product where you could just dump a packet of something into your own dough to make sourdough, you've got something.

I even talked to the manager/owner of the health food store about my experience trying to make my own and she said she made it once and she kept it going for a few months.  What an accomplishment, in my opinion.
