As I went to pay my rent yesterday, the manager said that the new computer was set up and ready to go in the Rec. Room. The main office wanted the tenants of this complex to have excess to free internet. I don’t know that too many people know how to or even want to learn how to use a computer here, but it would be interesting to find out. With only one computer, free, and the latest operating system with a 19” screen, I’m sure there will be many seniors who would want to learn… well, maybe.
The Rec. Room also got a new wide screen TV. Interesting how they acquired it. Someone died here at the complex. Their relatives lived across country and wanted to donate it to the manager since she cleaned out the apartment. The relatives didn’t want to venture out here to clean out the apartment. However, the manager said it should go to the residents of the apartment complex. Maybe it was unethical to accept anything from tenants or relatives of tenants, especially since it is a big, expensive, almost brand new TV, so the main office told her to replace the old dinosaur, 32” TV with this new, larger, looks like maybe a new 60” dinosaur of a TV.
As I thought, gee, it would be nice to see my photos (edited, of course) on this large screened TV, I asked the manager if I could hook up my computer to the TV and do just that. Well, as I ventured into the Rec. Room next to her office, I saw on the side of the screen a place to insert a memory card from a camera. I tried to see what else was hiding behind this monster of a TV, but just couldn’t turn the TV around enough to see where a cord from my computer would go into the TV. The TV was just too heavy and the TV is sitting on a nice corner type of table, so moving this heavyweight would be practically impossible except if you had someone holding one side of the screen as it’s being shifted around.
Today I’m planning to go and do my laundry. The laundry room is also next to the Rec. Room and am looking forward to playing around with this computer. I hope that word hasn’t gotten around and no one will be on it. It, of course, is high speed, 19” screen and has Skype on it. I’d like to try to communicate with someone on it. The computer has a regular mouse. Bummer. The screen is touch sensitive. Don’t like that either. It does have Windows 7 on it. Good.
This is something to look forward to after my DVD aerobics.
