I went to check out the new computer and TV in our Rec. Room yesterday while I did my laundry. I first went to the new computer with at least a 21-inch screen. It was nice. It has a touch screen, but I used the mouse. The computer had Skype loaded on it already and I was anxious to see just how this worked and if I could contact anybody with it.
I got my account set up and even my picture on the screen, but it operated just as I thought. You have to know somebody who also has Skype by either their e-mail or name. I tried a friend of mine, but with no success. Skype is really nice and I’d like to do it every once and a while, but since I don’t just want to contact the lists of strangers who already have it and were listed on the directories, I guess I’ll just have to wait until this new technology catches on with my friends.
I went into Picasa to see how my photos would look on this larger computer screen. They were a lot larger. There was still a lot of black surrounding the photos. The photos didn’t fill the screen completely, but they still looked a little better than on my 17-inch laptop. I don’t know that I would ever purchase such a large screen for my own use, because it was just too large with a lot of space that could be condensed. You would actually have to move your head from left to right to read a simple page of text or peruse a web site with both text and illustrations.
The maintenance man was taking a break with the manager in the Rec. Room, watching The Price Is Right at a blaring volume as usual and he turned that humongous 60” screen around to see the ports where you can attach various hardware. Since he was tucked in behind, I couldn’t see for myself where there was an input for my computer. He kept reading what he saw. I don’t believe he knew what he was looking for. He said the TV didn’t have a place for me to plug in my computer. I’m sure it does. This is a brand new TV with all the new technologies and this technology has been going on for years now. I let it go at that. So, I’ll never be able to get my computer attached to this big screen TV to see my photos life sized.
